A forward looking therapy perfect for children and teens.
Hi, I’m Louisa, a clinical solution focused hypnotherapist.
Welcome to Mindwaves.
I passionately believe every child and young person should have the agency to help their mental health be the very best it can be.
This starts with the neuroscience of why we think and feel the way we do.
Solution focused hypnotherapy (SFH) is rooted in neuroscience and is a lovely, kind, accessible, positive therapy that focuses on how the child wants things to be. This is a therapy that enables them to cope with things they may not be able to change and gives them the tools to change habits or thoughts and feelings that are no longer helping them.
I had this therapy when my husband was diagnosed with terminal cancer and subsequently after he died. We have three beautiful children and their mental health was my priority after his death. After qualifying I worked with adults and children but changed focus to work solely with children and have been working with children and young people in schools and in their homes ever since. I love it so much and it brings me so much joy to see the impact small steps can make.
I trained and qualified with the Clifton Practice school of Hypnotherapy in Bristol. This school is where solution focused hypnotherapy originated. The therapy and training was developed by David Newton.
I am fully insured, a registered member of the Association of Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AFSFH), the National council of Hypnotherapy and have an enhanced DBS. I work according to the AFSFH code of conduct, performance and ethics.
I started my postgraduate degree in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health at King’s College, London in September 2025 to complement my work.
I am a supporter and ambassador for The Ruth Strauss Foundation, a charity that supports families where a parent has a terminal illness. I also sit on the sub-advisory committee for the Ruth Strauss Schools programme. This is an initiative to equip schools with the tools to support children who have a parent with a terminal illness. This training is free to schools and you can read more about it here.
